Port Group: Port groups in VMware environments allow you to logically carve up virtual ports that are available on a particular vSwitch. We can apply traffic policy rules at the port group level: security rules and traffic shaping. Port groups are where you can also assign VLANs to your traffic.
This set of directions will walk you through creating a new Port Group.
1. Go to vSphere > Hosts and Clusters > A Distributed Switch (we're picking Prod-1) > A VM under that switch (we're picking node1.wiredbraincoffee.com)
2. Click on the "Add Networking" button.
2. Select "Virtual Machine Port Group for a Standard Switch"
3. Select a switch
4. Give it a name
5. Click "Finish"
